You have endless opportunities ahead of you by playing the fastest game on two feet.
Most people start playing lacrosse because they like the sport or all their friends are trying out, but what they do not anticipate is the opportunities the game can provide off the field.
It allows for travel, coaching, mentoring, and for some, furthering their education. When you travel it can be to play, like spending a summer in Adelaide, Australia playing for one of their clubs. You can travel to Jamaica or Uganda with the Fields of Growth Volunteer Corps and spread the game with volunteer work. Another opportunity for travel is coaching across the pond in England where you are placed at a school and help in their physical education department and coach lacrosse. Kasey Howard, one of our goalie coaches is currently in London coaching!
Fields of Growth is an outstanding non-profit organization. There mission statement is "FOG aims to harness the passion of the lacrosse community into positive social impact through global leadership development, service and growing the game." Sports are such an amazing opportunity to make a positive impact in children's lives. You learn teamwork, discipline, work ethic, passion, and leadership.
Coaching and mentoring are very rewarding experiences to come from playing lacrosse. You get to help mold the future of the sport and guide young lacrosse players to reach their full potential. Lacrosse can also aid in receiving a degree. Playing in college gives you the chance to keep playing the sport you love and continue improving in it. It also lets you create life-long friendships with your teammates.
"Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. Sport can awaken hope where there was previously only despair." Nelson Mandela
